From what I can tell, your wife is having to sign into the Find My iPhone application every time it's opened but you do not need to complete this on your iPhone. You would like to have her iPhone work the same as yours. I know it can be important to have the settings set up just right and I'll be more than happy to help out.
Check out this article: Get help using the Find My iPhone app - Apple Support
If you set a passcode on your iOS device, you'll be asked to sign in only the first time you open Find My iPhone. To set a passcode, go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode (on devices with Touch ID) or Settings > Passcode (on other devices), then tap Turn Passcode On.
Let's check and make sure she has a passcode enabled, if so, have her disable the passcode and power the iPhone off. Turn the iPhone back on, enable and make a passcode and then sign back into the application and see if it requires another sign in.
Cheers
