Q: Macbook Pro wiped hard drive to sell but logged in to reinstall OS X!
I'm selling my MacBook Pro from 2010. I wiped the hard drive and followed all the instructions Apple provided. I used my Apple ID to reinstall OS X so I could get the serial number off the machine. Now I've wiped it several times again but it isn't requesting my ID to reinstall the operating system, which makes me think that the machine has my Apple ID stored on it. Is there any way to completely wipe it again including this verification of the OS?

That MacBook Pro does NOT have Internet Recovery.
Best is to boot from one of your original install disks and erase the startup disk and reinstall from disk. When done shutdown without setting up.
When you booted to Recovery and erased the started up disk and install El Capitan did you shutdown like the article said before setting up the Mac?
