Q: Disk Utility shows an external drive, but I don't have one... ?

I have a Mac Mini that's been running a little slow lately, so I restarted in recovery mode to see if any of the partitions needed to be repaired and noticed that there is an external drive somehow connected to my computer... But I don't have an external drive and I've never used one with this computer.  I can't eject it from Disk Utility in recovery mode and it doesn't show up in Disk Utility when I start up normally.  In Terminal I tried to list all of the drives, but it doesn't show up and I can't unmount it by calling it directly.  It doesn't show up in the finder either.  Then I tried showing all of the hidden files and I see a hidden home folder on the HD, but from what I understand that's supposed to be there.

This is my work computer, so my theory is maybe our IT guys created a clone of my Mac?  I asked them directly, but they denied it.  If they did it's fine because it's not my computer, I'd just like to know for sure.

And no, Time Machine is not turned on and never has been.

Mac OS X (10.4.11)
