Q: Apple Music Playlists not showing in Library

Hi,

I am sure there is a perfectly good answer for this but I can't find it on the support community.

I have the little box ticked on my Apple Music to automatically add songs to my Music when adding them to a playlist.

But not all the songs I add to a playlist are showing in my library.  I have tried downloading the songs onto my computer to see if that helps but it doesn't.  They also don't show up in my smart playlists, which I suppose makes sense.

Please help.

Thank you.

    Hello Wombie2903,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Based on your post, I see that Apple Music is not automatically adding songs to My Music after adding them to a Playlist. I use this Apple Music feature a lot too. So, I know how important it is we get these songs correctly added.

First, I would advise to make sure that you have the latest iTunes version installed on your Mac, and then test to see if you get the same result. The following article will help:

Get the latest version of iTunes

Next, please make sure that you have a current backup of your Mac's important data, and then update the OS X software. The following resources will help:

Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac

Update the software on your Mac

After you've made sure that you have the latest updates, test by adding a song to a playlist and see if it now goes into My Music.

    Enjoy your music!

Thank you for the intelligent and informed answer.

Unfortunately, I still have the problem.  Does it help if I tell you that sometimes they are Apple Music Playlists from the 'For You' tab, and when I look at the 'problem' playlist it has a date added of 1st Jan 1970?

Is there some simple step that I am missing?

    Hello Wombie2903,

Thanks for trying those steps. We have something else that we would like you to try.

Try adding to a new playlist that doesn't have a date of "1st Jan 1970," and then use Add music from the Apple Music catalog to your library on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC, and make sure that you are following these exact steps, specifically, this section:

    Add songs, albums, and playlists

You can add songs, albums, playlists, and music videos to your library from anywhere in Apple Music. Items you add on one device are also added to your other devices that are signed in to Apple Music.

    On your Mac or PC

    1. In iTunes, find the song, album, or playlist that you want to add in the New or For You tabs, or search within Apple Music. You can search Apple Music from any tab except the iTunes Store.
    2. Click the More Options icon   to the right of the song or album name.
    3. Click   Add to My Music.

Songs and albums appear under My Music. Playlists appear in the sidebar of the Playlists tab under Apple Music Playlists.

    Best Regards.

    Hi,

Thank you for this, sorry for the delayed reply - I was away.

Those were the steps that I was doing.  The problem still remains.
