Q: Cannot Download Pages for Free

I have a couple 16GB iPad Air 2s that have been purchased in the past couple weeks that I've recently activated and created Apple IDs for but when I went to download Pages the App Store is requesting payment information now.

I've removed and added back the account, rebooted the iPad, and even wiped and re-setup the iPads but still can't download Pages for free.

Has Apple changed their stance on some of their paid apps being able to download for free?

If it dose not come with the iPad you have to buy it. if you have bought it already you should be able to find your purchase in the app store. other wis you have to pay for it.

But according to Apple knowledge base if the iPad was activated after September 1, 2013 some apps can be downloaded for free.

I've also been able to download Pages for free on 50+ iPad that we have without issue up until the recent iPads.

AFAIK, they are still free. It they weren't, I'm quite sure they would have updated the support page. The page was updated 4 days ago. Are you using the same ID to try to download the apps that you used to set the iPad up with?

That is what I saw as the support article was updated when I started to experience this issue.

Yes I'm using the same ID I used to setup the iPad but all the iPads have different IDs as they are semi-linked to there asset tags we place on the devices and this has happened to 3 iPads so far.

Was this the procedure used for the iPads that you have set up in the past when you were able to download Pages for free?

If these are business iPads or used at schools, you might be better off asking in the iPad for Business and Education forum.

Yes I used the same procedure for all the past iPads.

They are for a business but we don't have a MDM so they're basically setup manually as single device really.

But I'll cross post just in case.
