Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding you're trying to use a foreign SIM while you travel internationally. I know it's very important to be able to access a cellular network while you travel. I am happy to help.
If your phone is unlocked you can usually buy or rent a SIM card from a local carrier in the country you're visiting. The link below provides some additional information on how to use your iPhone with other networks while traveling.
