Q: Subscribed calendar works on Mac but not iPhone

I have subscribed to a calendar on my Mac (http://docs.smsd.org/districtCalendar/ics/?id=1009http://docs.smsd.org/districtCalendar/ics/?id=1009) and can see the events, but on my iPhone, I can see the calendar but it has no events.

I tried to subscribe to the calendar on my iPhone, but was unable.

The subscription is in ICS format, so I suspect that may causing the problem.

My current workaround is to subscribe via my Google account, which lets the calendar display both on my Mac and iOS devices, but would like to stay within the Apple ecosystem if possible.

Mac mini (Late 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

    Hello bnixon67,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having an issue with a subscribed calendar on your devices is not what you expect. If I understand correctly, you are unable to get the calendar you're subscribed to on your Mac to display correctly on your iPhone. Good news is it sounds like this can be resolved with a quick step on your Mac!

Open the Calendar app on your Mac, select the subscribed calendar from the list in the left hand sidebar. Then click the Edit menu at the top of the screen, then select the Get Info option. When the calendar’s Info appears, click the Location drop down and select iCloud. Here is an article with more helpful info:

    Use iCloud calendar subscriptions

    Cheers!

Sorry, I have tried that already based on the help article. The location is already set to iCloud.

Great, thanks for confirming that information. Next, have you checked if the subscribed calendar shows at iCloud.com/#Calendar from a computer yet? If the subscribed calendar shows on the iCloud website, I would turn off Calendars at Settings > iCloud on your iPhone, then restart your iPhone, turn iCloud Calendars back on, and test the issue again.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Get help using iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders

    Have a great day!

I'm confused -- subscribed calendars are not visible on iCloud.com. From the article:

    * If you visit iCloud.com or are using Microsoft Outlook, you won't see your subscribed calendars updated with iCloud.

Again, my issue is that the subscribed calendar is visible on my iOS and Mac, however the events for the subscribed calendar only show on my Mac and not iOS. The subscribed calendar publishes in ICS and not vCal format, which I suspect is the problem.

You should be able to reproduce this using the calendar URL I provided above.
