Q: 6th Gen Nano error message when plugged in
When I plug my 6th Generation iPod Nano into my Windows computer, iTunes opens and displays the following error message:
"An iPod has been detected, but cannot be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again.
If the problem persists, uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again."
My computer detects the iPod, however; File Manager opens and displays my iPod as an External Device, so my iPod has no trouble connecting to my computer, only iTunes.
I have reinstalled iTunes twice and restarted my computer, but it didn't fix my problem. My iPod worked fine until I installed Windows 10.

Hello khepler07,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding you've been getting an error when trying to connect your iPod nano with iTunes. Connecting to iTunes can be very important when you have an iPod. I want help get this resolved with you.
It sounds like you've done a great job so far. When uninstalling iTunes, it is very important that iTunes and related components are uninstalled in a certain order. If they're removed out of order you can experience unintended effects. Please use the steps in the link below to confirm iTunes and all components were uninstalled properly:
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later
If the issue persists after removing and reinstalling iTunes properly, it's possible the Apple Mobile Device USB Drivers are the cause. Please follow the steps in the section "If you use a Windows PC" in the article below:
If iTunes doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod
Cheers.
