1) Make sure the iPhone owners have the iMessage setting turned on their iPhones. Settings>Messages> iMessage>slide to on.
2) Check the person's phone number in your Contacts and make sure the phone type is iPhone not just mobile.
3) Launch iMessage on your iMac and go to Preferences >Accounts and check your settings and login ID.

Aug 8, 2016 5:03 PM in response to HBTSAOby philliplhunter,I am having this issue also - i have deleted the contact etc and still having the issue. The iMessage function is set up correctly - even checked by the people at Apple. Anyone have any advice?
