Q: AppleTV audio soft

AppleTV newest model, Samsung ku6300, Samsung hwk550 .. This happens even without the sound bar and other sets.

this past weekend, set up a new TV set with Samsung sound bar. But the audio for HBO now, Netflix, Hulu shows seems to have low audio volume wether I use the tv speakers or sound bar.

When I use a new Xbox one s HBO shows audio are seemingly normal and dont have to turn up the volume past 22-27.

I tried on the older set, and it's the same thing the volume seems like you have to turn it up just to hear basic dialogue, in the past prior to the recent update it seems like it was normal and could keep it at a reasonable low volume.

All settings default, no surround sound, etc any ideas?

Do you have any audio effects such as “sound check” or "sound effects" etc enabled.

I've found that the Apple TV output can be a little lower than from other sources, but you appear to be saying yours is even lower than it used to be with the same equipment, is that correct.

NI sound effects or other settings, just out of the box Apple TV set up.

for example the noise it makes when scrolling through the main menu apps, sounds perfectly normal and audible. Music sounds great, but ot seems using HBO now, Hulu, Netflix, and iTunes video content seems to be lower. And this using all Apple supplied hdmi cables, etc.

taking the the sound bar out of the equation, it still seems soft, even the tvs built in apps seem soft...but the Xbox one HBO app content seems normal .

so hopefully I've covered it and painted a decent picture of this

You said "all settings default, no surround sound". I think the default is Best Available. Have you tried switching to 5.1 or Stereo to see if it makes a difference?

Yep tried all those settings, reset the appletv, this even occurs with a brand new out of the box appletv. even hooking it up to an unrelated TV set, i noticed the audio is soft. Im wondering if a recent update has changed settings on some of the Apps video content.

For example again, during commercials with HULU or previews with HBO Now, it sounds great in the 19-24 volume range (like the content used to), but when an actual program is playing (depending on the show) it generally sounds soft or low and have to crank it up.

This does not occur with any music, sound effects, some videos/shows on hulu, etc. its replicated on a second new appletv on another set.
