Q: Touch ID is working but saying that it is the wrong finger

Hi!

I needed your help because i was at a meeting and i turned the my iPhone 6s off so that you had to press the turn on

button for a long time to turn it on again. Well the meeting was over  and i went home but i forgot my phone it was

pretty late so i wanted to search my phone the other day and i didn't found it. But 3 days later my friend found my

phone under my desk where i had put it to charge. So it still worked but Touch ID didn't recognize my two thumbs it still

worked but i only could unlock my phone with the code. I went to the settings and the deleted the two fingers and

scanned the same fingers again (my two thumbs) so i turned off my phone and it worked once with every finger i turned

it off the 3rd time and it didn't worked it said repeat. So what can i do to make it work again?

(The phone is brand new i bought it one week ago.)

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.2.1, null

Well may be your fingers are oily that time.

I phone sensor won't accept wet or oily fingers.Try it again with dry finger.

    Hi

After you have set up Touch ID, it can be normal to sometimes still need to enter your passcode or Apple ID including, for example:

    • If you have not unlocked your iPhone in more than 48 hours (you initially left your iPhone for 3 days, so this was normal).
    • If you have just restarted your iPhone.
    • If you have just enrolled or deleted fingerprints.

For more information, including steps to follow if Touch ID is not recognising your fingerprints, see the following support article:

Since you left it for 3 day in a closed desk then probably the  touch id is clogged with dirt try cleaning it with a damp cloth and try again or you can try rebooting your device if non of that work than the touch id is dead you have to get it replaced.try downgrading your ios or wait till IOS 10 is out maybe the problem is in software.

So, thank you for the answers!

Well before i asked you for help i often tried to unlock my phone with Touch ID well i often dried my finger and cleaned

the Home-Button completely. It didn't work. So i've seen that my phone hasn't the newest iOS version so i'm updating

    it right now.

Let's see if it will work.

As I explained previously, after 3 days it is normal for your passcode to be required instead of Touch ID. Once the iPhone has been left locked for 48 hours (2 days) or more, Touch ID cannot be used again until after the passcode has been used.

As I also explained previously, it is also normal for your passcode to be required first instead of Touch ID after restarting your iPhone. This does not mean that your Touch ID "is dead".
