Q: No Gapless Playback via Streaming

Hey everyone,

I'm new to Apple Music. My library is still in the process of being matched/uploaded. I have a whole bunch of official live shows from Pearl Jam, Phish, etc. that I downloaded via their official sites that were uploaded... Today i put on an album from my music streamed from the iCloud (not downloaded locally on my iPad as it's only 16GB and I'm in my house). It was an Aerosmith live album and there were gaps between each song. Please note that this was all under "My Music" via the music tab in the Music app. Does it not pre-buffer in order to remove these? Is there a way to set this up? This is the reason I switched from Google Play because an update a few months ago removed their gapless playback.

iPad, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), null

    Hey there, drawtheline!

Thanks for selecting the Apple Support Communities to find a resolution to your songs skipping. Congratulations, by the way, on your new Apple Music Membership. The possibilities are truly endless. Having these songs play all the way through without gaps is certainly a must! The Apple Music songs that you've selected to play, are dependent on the internet connection. In this specific instance, there are three steps:

    1. Try the content on a different network (i.e. Cellular or a different Wi-Fi network)
    2. Try turning off the device, then on again.
    3. Finally, Sign out of your Apple ID under Settings > iTunes & App store and then sign back in again.

Test your content after each step. This is something that should play flawlessly without gaps. Though there are no specific settings to "Enable Gapless Playback" we have those options above.

    Happy listening!

I tried several concerts as well as Dark Side of the Moon and all played back via streaming gapless. It just seemed that the one live Aerosmith album didn't, which is strange because it plays fine in iTunes when playing locally on my PC.

    Welcome back, drawtheline!

It's great to hear that the majority of your content is not experiencing this particular issue. Because the gaps appear only with the Aerosmith album, we can take a look at re-uploading that content.

It's always best to have a backup of your iTunes library on the computer. If you're unfamiliar with those steps, follow along here:

Manage and back up your iTunes media library

Once that content is safe and sound, take a moment to remove the Aerosmith album and re download or import to iTunes. Then you can upload that album again and confirm if it plays properly on your iPad.

Add music from your own collection to your Apple Music library

    Have a phenomenal day!
