Q: Progress bar getting about 60% and getting stuck
Hello,
I've been having difficulty with the last El Capitan update - my imac would not restart and would get stuck on spinning wheel. I could shut it off with the power button and turn it back on w/out the update and it would work fine except for chrome.
Today I was prompted to restart for the update and I thought I'd give it a try. This time, it shut down normally and looked like it would restart! While it was rebooting the progress bar froze on the gray apple screen and then the screen started flashing. If anyone has any suggestions on how to remedy this it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Use the 10.11.6 Combo Update:
The Combo Update is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update, so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before. It should preserve all your data and settings, but that said you should always have a backup.
