Hello, Since i've started using a Audioengine D1 DAC my audio now skips/cuts out for a split second every 7 mins or so. Has anyone else had this problem and managed to fix it. I've tried all the usual tests such as swapping usb's around, restarting, switching between 16 & 24 bits, i've even tried a powered usb hub. But the skip/cut out is still there.

Its seems to be a fairly exact time of around every 7 mins which leads me to think it may be a program running in the background thats causing the issue.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Regards.

usb audio devices all act the role of being an external usb audio card a such will always need a driver, not sure if there are any generic drivers for usb audio card if I were you then I would go to Audioengine and look for a osx for your version driver for their product

apple don't make drivers for third party hardware devices if included in osx then it's because the hardware developers committed a driver that apple tested and improved and included into the osx install

if a new version of osx is installed and Audioengine did not commit a driver or committed the same driver as last time and it failed the testing because it displayed the issues you experiences in some cases, and you upgrade then there is no new Audioengine driver so your system just stick with the earlier driver
