Thanks for checking out the Apple Support Communities! I understand you're having trouble sending mail from your Hotmail account on your iPad. It's convenient to be able to send mail right from the mail app and I'm happy to offer some help.

Aug 9, 2016 5:05 PM in response to Mcfred73by Diana.McCall,Have you checked the send mail settings for the account, particularly SSL and the port number? Look up the correct values on the Hotmail site and enter them. The parameters may have changed since you created the account.

Aug 10, 2016 5:39 AM in response to Mcfred73by Doctor9fan,Has your hotmail account been upgraded to use the new sync protocol? You can check by going to webmail & if it says Outlookmail then it's been upgraded.
You'll have to delete the account & recreate it to get the new protocol if Apple mail supports it or use the imap settings if it doesn't -
