Aug 2, 2016 12:32 AM in response to conmurrayby Jonathan UK,If you have an issue with your watch, consult Apple:

I'm afraid that no-one here can tell you what Apple will decide. This is a user-based technical support community - you are not talking to Apple here. It is also not allowed here to speculate about Apple decisions or to discuss Apple policies:

Aug 2, 2016 10:28 AM in response to nevsfby Icv74,One more, I bought 2 Apple Watches on April 10 2015, this morning (August 2 2016) the back of one of the watches detached and stayed on the charger, same story no more details needed. My wife stopped by (no appointment) an Apple Store in NJ, and they took care of it (even beyond the 1 year warranty), the new watch is coming in the mail in 3 days. Although I truly appreciate the great customer service, I am surprised that this is, as per the feedback at the store, a known issue. I just wonder when is the other watch going to detach too

Aug 3, 2016 8:40 AM in response to nevsfby jbhardee,Same problem with my watch. I've had it since February and don't even wear it that often. Maybe that heat from the charging fried it faster. I also don't run or shower with it, so my "sweat" factor is low. Mine is the cheaper "sport" version but I hate to have to make a special trip to the Apple store to deal with this!

Aug 3, 2016 10:03 AM in response to jbhardeeby dlbroughton,The back came off my watch (38mm black sport that I bought 5/4/2015) last Tuesday. I set up a Genius Bar appointment for Wednesday. At the appointment they told me that it is a known quality issue and that it would be repaired or replaced at no charge even though it was 3 months out of warranty. On Saturday they called me and said that the watch would be replaced and to pick it up at the store. I asked if the new watch was "new" and they said that it had never been used but comes from a pool with either damaged packaging or ones repaired during manufacturing.

Aug 5, 2016 7:00 PM in response to Kstud7by gbussey,Interesting .... I have the same problem (avid bicyclist, so warmth of day, plus sweat, plus road vibrations?). G-bar and telephone support act like they've never heard of the problem but nonetheless keep replacing/repairing for free. Seems maybe they actually know this is a defect and are feigning ignorance?

Aug 6, 2016 11:18 AM in response to gbusseyby dlbroughton,The Genius Bar tech I talked to hadn't heard of the problem, but it only took him seconds to find it on his iPad. I guess some Geniuses are better at debugging than others. I hope that most people will look here first and go to the Bar prepared.

Aug 6, 2016 4:21 PM in response to dlbroughtonby antman012,I sure hope they do the same for my wife's watch..I bought ours a month after you and two days ago my wife's popped off..Right after the Warranty passed. My wife is very gentle so I only bought AC for mine! Regardles, No one should buy a 400.00 watch only to have the back pop off a year later. Hopefully, they will take care of us like they did you. BTW..Where are you located? GA perhaps? Pic below..

Note that you should not post any personal information here, including product serial numbers (anything that you post here is publicly viewable).

Aug 6, 2016 4:45 PM in response to Jonathan UKby antman012,I have removed the serial number..If Apple will not fix an obvious defect does anyone have a suggestion on a home fix? I will not be paying to fix a watch that should still be in PERFECT condition. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of apple products and most of the time they will take care of their customers but this is straight silly manufacturing right here...

Aug 10, 2016 8:44 AM in response to nevsfby legaleagle10,Same thing happened to me this morning..... I have had since last June, wonder if Apple will repair and/or if this is a common problem. Haven't even been wearing the watch much lately...

You can find out by asking Apple:

Aug 21, 2016 9:31 AM in response to Jonathan UKby ragweedd,I Had this happened six months ago and again happened with the replacemen. Hopefully, the new replacement will arrive early next week. Annoying, but Apple fixes the watch. This not bode well for long term watch use.

Aug 21, 2016 11:45 AM in response to antman012by gbussey,Interesting picture - for you it was literally the back of the watch that popped off. For me it was the glass front. I'm wondering if there are two separate problems going on here - yours being somehow associated with the charging process (heating up in back?) and mine being associated with the glue that holds the glass covering to the body of the watch....
