Q: Is it possible to use Time Machine on a MacBook Pro without an AirPort

I have been wanting to use boot camp assistant to make a startup disk (or whatever its called) for windows. but it recommends using time machine before that...

 

 

 

i don't have an airport Time castle

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch,Early 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

Yes, you can use Time Machine to backup to any external drive you want to, as long as it is formatted Mac OS Extended Journaled.

 

It does not need to be a time Capsule at all.
