Q: Permissions Problem(Fairly Urgent)

Alright, I will try not to get ranty here as I am under heavy frustration right now.

I just finished editing a 30 minute film that I've been working on for the past 8 months, and I'm sending it off to be mastered. I've decided to go with uncompressed for the output, so I had to buy a new external SSD. (Obviously won't just be used for that) So I went through the routine to export it to my brand new drive, and here's what I got:

Apparently I wasn't allowed to share it yet, but I was like whatever I'll do what it says which was to turn on permissions in the file. I went to the file and went to permissions and saw this:

My apologies for how small it is, but if you look under sharing and permissions in the window on the left, you'll see that read and write is on for me (grant benson), which makes no sense, since I obviously still can't save my film to that drive. Also, on a side note, it's not just the drive, I'm not allowed to do this for any other place on my computer for some reason either, it's really confusing, but the drive is the thing I'm worried about.

This frustrates me a lot, since now I have nothing to help me solve the problem. I've looked around quite a bit here, but haven't really found a whole lot to work with, I've tried looking at "Repair Disk Permissions," but there were no error messages. I'm really delayed in getting this film done, and especially to my friend who will be mastering it, so help would be very appreciated. Thanks!

I'm running FCP 10.2.1

Computer Info:

System: OS 10.10.3

Processor: 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Memory: 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB

Storage : 255.2 GB on the internal SSD and 512.11 on the external

I can clarify anything else if needed.

Unlock the lock and enter your Admin Password.

Change Everyone to Read & Write.

Thanks for commenting. Unfortunately this didn't work for me. It still says I don't have permission. I don't know what else might be going wrong, any other suggestions?

IM curious why the drives appears to be filled with these read drives with the Jan 24, 1984 date, which is when the first Mac went on sale. Is the drive filled with them? Where'd they come from? If you can try reformatting the drive

I guess I should have clarified this earlier, but I don't think it has to do with the the drive at all. The same message appears for every other destination on my computer.(ex: desktop, downloads,) It also only appears when I select Video and Audio as well as Audio only, but anything else will work, thing is I need it to be video and audio. I think it's a problem with FCP but I have no clue how to fix it, and I need to get this video in very soon.

AAre you using managed or external media? Where's the library stored? You might need to copy it to a different location depending on the media location.

WHat's "but anything else will work" mean? Video only export? Or something else?

I believe it's managed media, since all my files are in the library, but hard to tell if they're just links to outside sources or not. The library is stored on my internal SSD, not my external SSD. When I say anything else will work I mean like video only works, Apple devices works, computer works, as well as web hosting, but I need it to be mastered, and exporting video and audio, as well as audio only won't work for some reason.

UUse the consolidate function. Copy the library to another drive with open permissions for all content. Make a new admin user to exclude a conflict and try to export it.

"but hard to tell if they're just links to outside sources or not."

Using the Finder, locate the Library and right click to Show the Package Contents.

Look in the Project>Original Media folder.

If you see any files with a curved arrow, they will be external media.

    BTW:

What type of machine are you using? MacPro, iMac??

I'm wondering if your PRAM battery may have failed giving you wrong dates.

What do you mean by make a new admin user? My dad currently is the admin, so should I just have him export it somehow?

It's better to try with a new, clean admin user. Make a new user in Users in system preferences and make it an admin account. This is just to test the system. It can always be deleted later.

Ok I will see what my dad says he's super protective about that stuff but I'll tell him it's for a film. I moved the library over to the drive and tried and still the same thing, but I will see if a new admin works. Are you saying to make a new admin but still export from my profile?

No, export from the new user.

THeres red something very weird happening in the system to generate all those 1984 files.
