Aug 11, 2016 4:23 AM in response to KenZakreskiby KenZakreski,The log in window setting is set as a list of names. I also tried as a user and password. No luck either way. I can see the other account also when I share into the mac mini from my MacBook.
THe Mac mini will not allow me to enter recovery mode with cmd -r on restart. That is my next problem.
How do I restart into recovery mode when cmd -r doesn't work?

Aug 11, 2016 6:27 AM in response to KenZakreskiby lllaass,Could be that you do not have a Recovery partition and that is preventing yo from booting to that partition.
However, if you are using a wireless KB try a wired one since sometimes yo can't enter Recovery with a wireless KB.
To get to essentially Recovery mode I would download the El Capitan installer from your Purchases section of the Mac App Store and make a bootable USB device using
then boot from that USB device
