What exactly does "things" mean above?
Does it mean you added new files directly under the folder (and not at a subfolder level)? That would be a modification.

i'm just a bit confused. i have a folder on my desktop containing all my 2016 work files.
i've set it to icon view > date modified
there is one folder at the top under "previous 7 days" which i have not changed at all. all the files in the folder were last modified on 7th june.
so i'm scratching my head wondering why it thinks i have modified the folder within the last 7 days.
then, i just opened (didn't make any changes at all) an indesign file in a folder on my HD which contains files last modified on september 2015. and now that folder is showing up as having been modified today. makes no sense to me as i didn't modify anything. all i did was open the indesign file.
