Q: Love/hate Apple TV 4 with several glitches forcing reboots
I have to restart my Apple TV 4 at least once per day. Sometimes many more. Had to memorize the button combination on the remote that makes it reboot itself, even though sometimes even that doesn't work because the Siri remote will be ignored. These are recurring problems:
Hulu will begin to play my selected video for about 2 seconds and suddenly stop with an error message. Relaunching Hulu doesn't work. Using app switching to force close Hulu and anything else that might be running doesn't work. Have to fully restart AppleTV.
Moving the selector to chose an app doesn't work, only the left right up down touch pad remote part. I can always click and launch whatever the selection was last sitting on. I can double tap home and bring up multitasking where I CAN swipe left and right to choose, open and force close apps, other apps can use the touchpad input. But going back to the home screen, it ignores touchpad directional input. Home screen also sometimes will ignore another Bluetooth controller like my game controller. Unlike it normally works, the direction pad cannot select and app, but will respond to one of the analog game controller inputs and then move the selector around. Again, can always use touchpad to click, can always multitask and slect and use other apps, but home app screen won't respond to directions. Restart.
Games like Rayman Adventures will work beautifully, then sometimes stutter pause and hang several seconds or several minutes.
Multitasking selection will fail, screen go white a few seconds, then back to home screen.
The play/pause button will suddenly stop working on Siri remote. All other buttons on remote will work but video being played won't respond to play or pause command. You can sometimes click the touchpad to pause and resume when this happens, it depends on the app and what video is playing.
That last problem requires me to restart the Siri remote, which is holding the menu and volume up button for several seconds, you'll get a remote linking instruction on the screen when you do this.
Wwhy so buggy? The buttons for restarting Siri remote make the shape of a backslash diagonal, and to restart the Apple Tv itself you hold the play and home buttons which make a forward slash. BUT I SHOULDNT HAVE TO MEMORIZE THIS AND DO IT SO FREQUENTLY. What gives!?

Have you tried performing a Factory Reset. I am not in the US (so cannot speak to Hulu) but have not found the Apple TV to have any bugs, in changing volume or using any of the functions - this sounds like you might have some corrupt software and might need a reset. Only problem I have is Sometimes WiFi disconnects but that is more of a problem with my router, and happens once every 5/6 months which requires a Apple TV restart.
Or it might be worth booking in a appointment at your local Apple store - they can do a diagnostic incase you have some damaged hardware.
