Q: I want to merge an old account into a new accounts

Hello,

I have had iTunes for a very long time, so long in fact that the hosting servers for the email address tied to my old account have gone down. I want to know if it's possible, and if any Apple personnel would be able to help me merge my old account's album purchases into my new iTunes account. It can get pretty annoying to have to switch between accounts just to listen to my music, and the whole thing would be a lot easier if it were located on just a single account.

The reason I have two accounts is because my brother let me create an iTunes account with his credit card, because I didn't have one at the time; I was too young. After purchasing around 20 albums on that account, I made my own account and started purchasing albums on that one.

Self-built PC, Windows 10

You can't merge accounts or transfer purchases.

Unfortunately, accounts can't be merged. That's not an offered option.

You can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will authorize a redownload of the albums from one account on the other. However, I wouldn't hold out very high expectations.

See the Contact Us link at the bottom right of every page for information on how to contact them.

It's not possible to merge accounts, nor to transfer content between accounts (and you are talking to fellow users on these user-to-user forums, Apple are no here) - all content is permanently tied to the account that downloaded it. You could consider using family sharing and adding both accounts to it : Family Sharing - Apple Support (though with family sharing the organising account cannot use a balance on its account ;  and the other account(s) can't use a card, only the organiser's card can be used)

    Hey all,

Thank you for giving your input, I really appreciate it. Turns out I can just download off of one account, log into the other, and then download from there. It's kind of a funky system of things, but I can manage. At least I will have all my music in one place, I was just hoping that I could put everything together under one account; it would make things much easier.

Again, thank you all for replying so quickly! I appreciate it.

You can authorise a computer to play from more than one account, but not a mobile device. Keep swapping from one account to another on a mobile is a pain in the neck too and in some circumstances will result in you getting locked into one account for 90 days at a time.
