Q: Restore iPad Apple ID email address dormant

have six year old iPad and the email account linked to it no longer exists, how can I set up a new valid account

    can't sign into Apple ID as don't know password have tried every combination and as the email account no longer exists I can't request a password reset. From the link you have put need to sign into Apple ID first

    When I try and sign into iCloud on iPad it says enter password word for the email address.  When I got to Apple to try and sort it out and enter the email address as Apple ID it states that email address is not an Apple ID.

    It sounds like you may have changed the apple ID without signing out of iCloud first.

     

    The device is not smart enough to recognize if an apple ID has been changed and will continue to show an old email.

     

    If you went to appleid.apple.com and attempted to reset the password and it tells you the apple ID does not exist, that means the device is locked to another account.

     

    Do you have any other apple ID's that you use? Do you remember changing it?
