Q: black screen after log in on mac pro

after I log in to my user, my screen goes black. I have no idea what is wrong or what to do. Im running yosemite 10.10.5 on a 2012 mac pro tower. new ssd drive.

suggestions?

Mac mini, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Can you successfully log in when booted to Safe Mode? (boot with Shift key depressed)
Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up - Apple Support
