Q: I am getting a constant message that my computer is unable to connect with iCloud due to a problem with my account

I have entered the correct password, and checked my account, and all devices are showing correctly.  After a recent OS upgrade, I was required to change the password, which I did -- and this new password is the one I am entering.  I suspect somewhere in that process, this problem was created.

I am working on an iMac iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2014)

1.4 GHz Intel Core i5

8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB

Running El Capitan  10.11.6 (15G31)

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

    Hello Rob Wilson,

I understand how important getting your iCloud setup on your Mac may be. It looks like you are having issues connecting to iCloud once you enter your new password. No worries Rob. The best solution would be to sign out of iCloud on your Mac completely then sign back in. Please follow the steps below to sign out of your iCloud account.

OS X El Capitan: iCloud preferences

    1. Click on your System Preferences

    2. Select your iCloud settings

    3. Click the Sign Out button at the bottom left of the iCloud settings window.

    4. Sign in with the same Apple ID and new password.

Please note: You may be asked to delete some items and save some items. The items that are deleted will be downloaded once you sign back in.

OS X El Capitan: If you sign out of iCloud

This should have you signed into your iCloud account with your new password in no time! Thanks for using Apple Support Communities for help.

    Have a nice day.
