Q: apple tv 4 will not mirror ipad 3

Dear Forum

my AT4 simply will not mirror my iPad3 at all. ive tried everything. it never has since i bought it. any ideas?

ive done all the turning off and on, reseting, restarting, router, ipads, AT4, same wifi network. AT4 sometimes available in the airplay options on the ipad and sometimes is not...

is there any known issues i can check? very frustrating. not sure if its connected but i cant watch films on my Mac Mini iTunes on the AT4 either. AT4 thinks Home Sharing is not on. It is. ive also tried turning that on and off also but to no effect. Oddly, Plex App, which uses the same iTunes library works perfectly....

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.

You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.

Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.

There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

Hi. Could you also describe your network setup: routers, switches, WiFi extenders, etc. Are ATV 4 and Mac on WiFi or ethernet? This might give some clues.
