Q: Can I burn an AVCHD disc in fcpX with a bluray burner
I am having difficulty sharing a 3 minute or 24 minute video to BluRay disc and then insert a DVD-R into the bluray burner to burn an AVCHD disc . fcpX kicks it out and says "The media in the drive cannot be used . Please insert another disc." . And cancel burn is the only option .
I deleted all the render files and re-rendered , rebooted etc . I seem to remember burning AVCHD discs directly from fcpX before , maybe a year ago. Have updates messed it up, or can we not burn AVCHD discs in fcpx ?
Then with TOAST 10.0.09 when i create a master file as .H264 from fcpX and then import to TOAST and burn BluRay disc with a DVD-R in it , TOAST now kicks it out too , saying there is a problem with the source material , error 18771 .
Luckily bluray discs are a lot cheaper now , so right now for video editing/testing purposes , I have to go the full monty and burn a bluray disc everytime to avoid relentless hangups in the process .
Does fcpX have innate ability to do AVCHD discs ?

Yes. But FCP expects to output to a red laser optical drive (a DVD burner), not a blue laser drive. Try using a regular DVD burner for AVCHD.
