Q: Boot Camp Assistant saying "Please format the USB flash drive as single FAT partition", when I already did.

Boot camp won't let me use my flash drive because I need to format it in a single FAT partition, when it already is. Why?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

What year/model is your Mac? From OSX Terminal, with the USB connected, please post the output of diskutil list.

This is a GPT-formatted USB with a FAT partition. It will not work for BC Assistant. In OSX Terminal run

    diskutil eraseDisk fat32 WININSTALL disk2

Please ensure it is disk2, before you erase it, otherwise you will lose data, if you use a different disk.

In El Capitan Disk Utility, the equivalent is to choose MBR format.

Can you connect the USB and post the output of diskutil list? Please also post the exact error message.
