Q: Device Not Found, but internet working

I have a Airport extreme with a 2TB time capsule that I use as a file dump.

All of the sudden I cannot connect to the airport time capsule. When I initiate airport utility, there is an orange exclamation point/triangle that has the description "device not found". The router is clearly working, since I am connected to the internet (as we speak).

I tried to unplug the device and the time capsule comes back for about 2-3 minutes before the same problem occurs again. Soft and hard factory resets produce the same results. I know it is not my macbook pro, because it does the same thing on my phone as well.

    Same issue

Same issue of no power, or some other same issue?

If no power, then see the post above.

My 2T time capsule is not found at the Airport utility ("device not found" with triangle figure shown) and cannot access it thru finder but still I have Internet.

Sorry, I forgot to clarify that green light of TC is on always as usual.

Read through the previous posts on this thread. Nothing new to add. It's an iCloud and Back to My Mac issue, and we'll have to wait for a fix from Apple.

Exactly, all the accounts on which people saw their TM or AE for a short while are explained by the fact they saw their devices until the iCloud connection was established. Work around for now is disabling the BTTM fuctionality and wait for a solution.

To clarify, the green indicator light on the Airport never went out unless I unplugged the device in an attempt to reset it. Sorry for not being clear but the "no power" indicator was what would show up on the Airport icon when the amber triangle with the explanation point inside of it displayed.  The green light on the device stayed on and glowed steadily.

I did get an Apple tech on the phone after I first wrote and he had me reset the device by pressing the reset button next to the power cord.  That seems to have corrected the problem and the Airport icon has shown the two green lights (internet and device) since the reset was completed.

Thank you! I was encountering the same issue.

I was able to connect to the base station using the 'configure other' option using the base station's IP address.

I the removed the 'back to my mac' entry and that resolved the problem.

I'm guessing this must be a firmware bug..

An iCloud issue affecting a number of users.

This fixed the issue for me.  Started on August 11th now fully back up and functioning - can access via AirPort Utility and my Time Machine backups are working again.

    Same identical problem here.

I noticed  about two days ago that Time Machine on the Mac wasn't able to find the device but didn't bother investigating more in detail as sometimes restarting the computer or the devices fixes network issues. Yesterday using iOS Airport Uility I realised that the device still works as a WiFi router but cannot be accessed by software.

i tried turning all devices off and restarting them to no avail. Also a h/w reset of my Time Capsule didn't help.

This is a two years old, 2TB last generation device which has been working flawlessly until now.

    Any idea out there?

    /P

Definitely a Cloud issue as the Local Area Network is working just fine as long as no Internet connection is established.

After a restart and a few minutes on the Internet the TimeCapsule returns unavailable.

DIsabling "back to my mac" on the TimeCapsule has restored normal functionality including TimeMachine backups for the Mac.

Yes thats how I noticed something was wrong. Went to grab a printout, it was not there. Printer status says printer not connected but wireless and internet is fine. Green lights everywhere. I noticed the TC hard drive is not shown on the network either.  Was about ready to call for an applecare return or think about replacing the hard drive when I ran across this thread.  Used the "configure other" tip to log into the AETC and removed back to my mac, reset. Everyone seems to be happy now for an hour or so.  Really glad I checked this community on this one.

Did the back-to-my-mac delete of apple id's and it fixed the problem.  all is well again, till apple really fixes the problem.

I just noticed today that I'm having this issue. Restarted the Time Capsule but it did not resolve. The firmware was updated a few weeks ago.

edsdd.pngIf you see this when you open Airport Utility, write down the DNS servers, then go to edit/configure other. Write the address as the dns servers and your password for the TC. Edit the DnS servers with the one you wrote down and you should be good to go. Worked for me instantly.
