Q: Bluetooth Problem: New devices are not detected any more

Since I installed the update to iOS 9.3.3 update my iPhone 5s is unable to connect to unkown Bluetooth devices. It can't even find them. I noticed it when wanted to connect my new sportstracker band and I am really sad that I still cannot use it. Next, I tried to connect my band to other (Android) smartphones and they had no problem in detecting it at all.

Then I event reset the network settings - without succes - and with the latest iOS version 9.9.4 it doesn't work either.

What I find very striking: my iPhone can't find ANY new Bluetooth device since then, only the ones it has already been connected to. Any idea what to do?

    Hello sgmmkort,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand from your post that you are not able to connect your new sportstracker band to your iPone 5s via Bluetooth. I know how important it is for you to be able to use your new band. I would verify with the manufacturer that the Bluetooth profile the band uses is one of the ones listed in the following article:

    iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles

If it does not use one of the Bluetooth profiles in the article that could be a reason why it is not pairing properly.  Also be sure to check any documentation for the Bluetooth accessories to make sure they're in pairing mode for the iPhone to detect them.

    Best Regards

    Dear Alwayswantingtohelp1,

Thank you so much for your reply.

However my problem is mainly that I cannot connec my iPhone to ANY other device, not only my new band. Even to connect with other smartphones is not possible any more. I tested it with 4 or 5 friends (with different smartphones - though non of them an iPhone): they detected me but my phone didn't find them. So we were unable to connect via Bluetooth. For me this is proof enough that something is wrong with my iPhone or, even more likely, with iOS.

You see that this is a general problem which is really annoying.

Maybe the next update will help??? Or do you or anyone else has another idea?

    Thanks and best regards.

Connecting to other phones by Bluetooth is not supported.

You might try a reset by holding the power and home keys down until the Apple logo appears.
