Q: Bootcamp Partition Readable in Finder, Won't Boot

Hi!

I know there are many similar articles regarding this issue but i'm hoping for some custom support!

I was previously running Windows only on my MBP (Mid 2014) and wanted to dual boot into OS X and windows. I cloned my windows partition using Macrium Reflect to a 500 gb external SSD.

I then formatted the drive in disk utility and installed OS X (yosemite). I partitioned the internal SSD using paragon (NTFS write ability) and cloned the external drive to the internal SSD drive.

The W7 side should at lease MBR1 and MBR3 in addition to C: (MBR4) as volumes. Your MBR has the correct entries

Can you post the output of diskutil list ?

If you boot into Safe Mode, can you search for a file called bcd.old on your C: drive?

Thanks again! Is it a positive sign that the search found the above BCD files?

Run Diskpart and ensure C: is writeable. See this link for the attributes command to clear readonly attribute.

    Try the Startup Repair after

    copy C:\Boot\BCD.Backup.0001 C:\Boot\BCD

Can you check if there is a Microsoft directory (and a BCD) on your EFI Partition? See Re: Can't resize Macintosh HD partition as an example.

Since you have the source from which you cloned windows safe elsewhere, as a test, can you re-install W7 and test if you get a Windows.old? Do you have a significant number of applications that you will need to re-install, if we choose this method?

The computer I'm working from was the source but i still have the clone on my external ssd. Unfortunately a clean re-install isn't a great option. I could install Windows on a different computer and transfer the boot files if possible tho...?

If you have the source disk of the clone preserved, restore it to your internal disk, and retry your Startup Repair.

Can you provide the typical location of the source disk in C:\Windows

What is the best way to transfer the source disk across? using terminal in the Windows boot installer?

I was reading another msg board and it was a similar issue. I cloned the entire 500gb drive to my SSD but it seems as if i did not clone the windows EFI partition (around 200 mb). is there anyway to re-build this?

If i did a clean install of W7 Enterprise, could i copy the EFI Boot files, re-clone my ssd to the W7 partition, and then move the boot files over?

    Thanks!
