Q: iOS 9.3.4 with freeze battery life indicator

I'm using iPhone 6 128GB and it's been fine until I updated to 9.3.3 as my problem is the battery life indicator seems to stay at 100% most of the time and when it gets down to about 75% it shut itself down with an please charge your iPhone if you try to turn it on. So I tried update to iOS 9.3.4 hoping the problem has been fixed but apparently not, any fix to this?

    Greetings jupdog,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that you have updated the iOS software on your iPhone, and when your battery percentage gets to 75%, the iPhone will shut off. I rely on my iPhone daily. So, I know how important it is that we get this battery issue resolved.

First, use Maximizing Battery Life and Lifespan to learn how to maximize the battery life of your iPhone, and how to view the battery usage information, specifically, this section:

    View Battery Usage information

iOS 9 is designed to be the most battery-efficient iOS ever. And it gives you more precise ways to manage your device’s battery life, because you can see the proportion of your battery used by each app (unless the device is charging). To view your usage, go to Settings > Battery.

Here are the messages you may see listed below the apps you’ve been using:

Background Activity. This indicates that the battery was used by the app while it was in the background — that is, while you were using another app.

    • To improve battery life, you can turn off the feature that allows apps to refresh in the background. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and set the switch to Off.
    • If the Mail app lists Background Activity, you can choose to fetch data manually or increase the fetch interval. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data.

Location and Background Location. This indicates that the app is using location services.

    • You can optimize your battery life by turning off Location Services for the app. Turn off in Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
    • In Location Services, you can see each app listed with its permission setting. Apps that recently used location services have an indicator next to the on/off switch.

Next, let's close all apps that are open in the background of your iPhone and see if that helps the issue. After you've force closed all open apps, restart your iPhone, and then test again to see if the iPhone shuts down at 75% battery life. The following article will help:

Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    Best Regards.

I think the suggestion you made isn't really going to solve my problem but I gave it a tried anyway and as I suspected it doesn't solve my issue, thanks for the suggestion though.

    Hello jupdog,

Thanks for trying those steps. We have a couple of other things for you to try.

First, let's make sure that you have a backup of your iPhone's important data. The following article will help:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Once you've backed up your iPhone, we would like you to restore the iPhone to factory settings. Once you've restored, set up the iPhone as new, and then test to see if the battery has the same issue. This helps isolate the issue from any software that is currently running on the iPhone. The following article will help:

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

And this article will help you restore from a backup after you have tested:

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

    Best Regards.
