Q: How can I get location-aware printing to work properly?

I have a printer at home, and a printer at my office.  In theory, I understand that my OS should be able to opt for the appropriate printer depending on where I am with my Macbook Pro.  However, when I'm at my office, it consistently tries to print to my home printer, which obviously isn't available.

How can I get this feature to work properly?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

I think you would have to add the office printer as the first printer in the list.

How does one do that?  Looking at "printers and scanners" in System Preferences, they seem to be listed alphabetically, and there's no way to drag them into a different order (the first one in the list is a printer owned by my office-mate, whose name starts with "F" and thus his printer comes before either of my "HP Office Jet" printers.  And the OS does not automatically try to print to his printer when I'm in the office; it tries to print to my home printer.)

Based on what you posted, my suggestion appears to not work. Go to System Preferences/Printers & Scanners and experiment with the default options at the bottom right.

It would be more helpful if you had an answer, rather than telling me guesses.  I've already "experimented" with the default options and haven't solved the issue, which is why I'm asking the question here.
