Q: Moving pictures from one iPad to anotherr

Have two iPads an original running iOS 5.1.1(no updates possible) and an iPad Air 2 running iOS 9.3.4 Both iPads have, supposedly, access to the same iCloud account. Need to get all pictures from old iPad to new iPad. Have failed miserably. Can anyone give me an idiot's solution to this problem please.

You can't use iCloud Photo Library on the older iPad since you need iOS 8.3, I think. I don't know if iCloud Photo Sharing works with iOS 5.1.1. It's been years since I ran that iOS. You can take. Look.

This is a paid app, but it should work for you. I have it and it works pretty well. According to the App Store description, iOS 5 is the minimum with which it will work.

Many, many thanks. A very useful app which worked quickly for several hundred photographs and it was very easy to use. For £2.29 it's an absolute bargain and I would recommend it to anybody who has the problem I had.

There are other slightly more convoluted ways of doing it, but that app really makes it easy and simple. I'm glad that you liked it and found it to be useful.

There are a few other pay apps that do the same thing as the one you use and listed.

I have been using this photo/movie/video tramsfer app on all my iDevices since it was introduced when the original iPad debuted. Older version is stil able to be downloaded for the original iPad.

You can use iCloud Photo Library or AirDrop.

For iCloud Photo Library, select all the pictures you want to transfer and then click the icon that is like a box and an arrow(IDK how else to explain it) and then click iCloud Photo Sharing.

For Airdrop, select all the pictures you want to transfer and make sure AirDrop is on the other device you want to send the pictures to. Then click the other iPads name.

    Hope this helped

The original iPad doesn't have the ability to use AirDrop OR iCloud Photo Library.

I still own and ocassionally use an original iPad from 2010.

Neither one existed then and didn't exist in iOS 5.1.1.

Another option is to use DropBox.

You can easily use DropBox to transfer any files from one  mobile device to another device or computer.

The free version lets you transfer and save data up to 2 GBs of storage.

That's an interesting option. I have DropBox on my iMac but not on either of the two iPads in question. Anyway as you will gather from an initial response I have got and used the Wireless Transfer app very successfully.

Thanks for this but as you will gather the facility you refer to isn't available on the original iPad hence my cry for help.
