Q: MacBook keyboard and trackpad not working after disassembly

Built-in keyboard and trackpad aren't working after I disassembled my mid-2009 MacBook for fan fixing issues ..

the power button works, and the machine boots fine with an interrupting message indicating that no keyboard nor trackpad is connected

I checked the ribbon cable - connecting the upper case with the board - many times, I tried resetting (SMC) but I don't know if it worked or not as the keyboard needed for resetting isn't functioning

I'm afraid that I might get the cable replaced for no reason or the problem remains even after.

MacBook, null

Yes, you may find some other connection could be 'at fault' once you've

replaced any suspect cable or connector may simply be loose inside there.

However it would appear those many steps may be worth repeating to see

if the problem is a defective connector or a bad cable. Some repairers will

have a new replacement spare cable on hand, as a replace-to-test route.

Not sure what else to suggest; most hardware tests would not be conclusive.

    Good luck in any event...!

Had you tried a USB wired keyboard to provide input while resetting SMC?

The built-in keyboard while testing is likely unreliable; and further tests may

be required of a professional technician who is trained on those products.

Hoping for the best outcome, in any event.

    Good luck!
