Q: How do I designate where my imported photos, organized in Events, appear in the Library Events window?

Mac OS 10.8.5

iPhoto '11

When I import photos from my iPhone, I label the individual Events while they are still in the Import window. When I change to the Events window, the new events appear at the very top/beginning of the library. In order to get these new events into chronological order, meaning they should be at the bottom of the window, I have to drag the new events down through multiple years and thousands of pictures. I can't find anything in Preferences that I can change to specify I want them added to the bottom, not the top. Or, stated a different way, is there a mechanism to ensure the library is organized in chronological order? Any suggestions? Thanks!

click on events in the source pane on the left - under the view menu ==> sort events and select the desired sort - this is for iPhoto 9.6.1 - you do not state which version you have but i think this is the same for all versions of iPhoto '11

Larry, thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately I can't check it out right now--for some reason iPhoto is crashing every time I try to launch it. Before it crashed I was able to find the version and it is 9.4.3. (FYI: I Repaired permissions and rebooted several times; it didn't have any effect.) When I get iPhoto back up and running, I'll post my results. Thank you again.

I wrote the reply above prematurely. I finally figured out why iPhoto was crashing and have temporarily fixed it. I also found the View>Sort option you described above. I feel silly that I didn't think to look for that in the first place. Thank you again for sharing your expertise.

You are welcome - the crash probably is looking for Google Maps - Bug: iPhoto 9.4 crashing when viewing Places

You can cure that by turning off look up places or setting up your own Google Map account and using it
