Q: Apple TV and airplay

OS El Capitan V 10.11.6, Apple TV V2 5.06. Problem is Airplay works with iTunes, but anything else says looking for airplay devices. When Apple TV is active the display properties icon in the menu bar is visible but offers no airplay options, sound output options in system preferences only offers internal speakers, I have a Beloit 12 speaker and this works fine, only issue seems to be  Apple TV

Thanks

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

    Hey bmw rider steve!

I'd definitely want to use the Apple TV to put my Mac on a TV screen.  We can see what's going on with the MacBook Air and Apple TV.

If you haven't check out this article: Use AirPlay to display video from your Mac on an HDTV - Apple Support

    Specifically this part:

If you don't see your Apple TV in the AirPlay menu, make sure that your Mac and Apple TV meet the system requirements, and your Apple TV software is up to date. Also check your firewall settings:

    1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Security & Privacy, then click the Firewall tab.
    2. Click the lock icon, then enter an administrator name and password.
    3. Click Firewall Options.
    4. Deselect the option “Block all incoming connections.”
    5. Select the option “Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections.”

    Best wishes!
