Aug 17, 2016 8:20 AM in response to pabloazazelby pabloazazel,Maybe I did not explain myself properly. If I use an adapter USB-C to thunderbolt in order to connect the Macbook in target disk mode, is there any chance of charge the unit while on target disk mode?

Aug 17, 2016 11:27 AM in response to pabloazazelby Lanny,There is no such thing as a USB-C to Thunderbolt adapter.
The 12" Retina MacBook has no Thunderbolt capability, with or without adapters.
You could try using one of the Apple USB-C to video adpaters, perhaps they would allow charging while the MacBook is in Target disk mode. You do understand the USB Target disk mode allows for file access, but it won't support it being used as a boot drive.

Aug 19, 2016 7:26 AM in response to Lannyby pabloazazel,Thank you very much, does anyone know if connecting the Macbook with a USB-C to USB-A adapter to an iMac will this iMac charge the macbook?
-
Aug 19, 2016 7:30 AM in response to pabloazazelby Lanny,No, the iMac USB ports would only be a suitable charging source for an iPhone or iPad. The MacBook power supply is 27 Watts. You're not going to get that kind of power from any computer's USB ports.
Get one of the Apple USB-C to video adapters, it will allow charging.

Aug 19, 2016 10:41 AM in response to pabloazazelby Christopher Barker1,Lanny might be right, but my MacBook indicates that it's charging when plugged into one of my iMac's USB ports. But I can't get it to mount on my iMac in Target Disk Mode. It used to, but one of the updates in the last 3 or 4 months seems to have robbed me of the facility . . . very annoying.

Aug 19, 2016 12:55 PM in response to Christopher Barker1by Lanny, but my MacBook indicates that it's charging when plugged into one of my iMac's USB ports.
For the electronically challenged: The specified output for a USB port is 5 watts, the power supply that ships with the MacBook is 27 watts. So, it might recharge in a little over 5 times longer than normal, but it wouldn't be practical.

Aug 20, 2016 4:16 AM in response to Lannyby Christopher Barker1,Thanks for that point, Lanny, but do you have an answer to my question? Why does my MacBook (2015) not mount on my iMac when in TDM? It did when I first got it about 8 months ago, but the same cable does not produce a mounted MacBook now. I have tried different USB-A to -C cables, all with the SS on the head, but no joy.

First, you're not the OP.
2nd, you need to provide more details in your own posting. Be sure to include what the update was that you believed caused the issue, and the make and type of the adapter that you're using.
