Q: no sound on phone

Please can anyone help, from time to time, the sound disappears from my phone, I've checked everything I think I should, it's not on mute, but if I connect earphones I can hear. Does anyone have this problem or know how I can fix this. Thanks

If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker - Apple Support

 

especially step 7:

 

If there's still no sound, connect a headset. If you can hear sound through the headset, remove it and clear any dust or debris from the headset jack of your device.
