Aug 14, 2016 11:41 AM in response to Tesseraxby Housmanae,I've ordered a USB-C/Ethernet adaptor from eBay which should be here in a few days.
I'll get back to you when it arrives.
Regards,
Mark Hyde.
P.S. My Mac is a new MacBook Retina which only has the one USB-C port.

Aug 17, 2016 12:16 PM in response to Tesseraxby Housmanae,Hi there!
Got my USB-C/Ethernet connector today.
Just going to follow up with your instructions from the other day.
Before I do so.
Do I leave the TalkTalk router on or should I disconnect it (prior to this Time Capsule issue).
Regards,
Mark Hyde.

Aug 17, 2016 12:20 PM in response to Housmanaeby Tesserax,To prevent static electrical damage to sensitive networking equipment, it is always best to power down said equipment BEFORE removing or adding cables. It would also be a good idea to make sure that you ground yourself as well.

Aug 17, 2016 12:25 PM in response to Tesseraxby Housmanae,Sorry, think I've mislead you.
We're about to configure the TC now I have this connector.
Does the TalkTalk router need to be running? Or should it be switched off? Don't think you've mentioned that.
Regards,
Mark Hyde

Aug 17, 2016 12:43 PM in response to Tesseraxby Housmanae,TalkTalk router is running.
Reset the TC back to it's factory default.
Have connected it up to the MacBook Retina using this new adaptor.
Clicked on AirPort Utility on the Mac.
Now showing a window with the heading 'This AirPort Time Capsule will create a new network'.
Underneath that, Network Name, followed by Base Station Name. After that it wants me to enter a password> Should i do that? Can't see it in your instructions.
Regards,
Mark Hyde.
-
Aug 17, 2016 12:59 PM in response to Housmanaeby Tesserax,Yes, the Network Name should be the same one provided by the TalkTalk router. Wireless security should be the same as well. For base station name, for now, enter: TC

Aug 17, 2016 1:37 PM in response to Tesseraxby Housmanae,Done all that.
Should the USB cable from the printer connect back to the TalkTalk router or the TC?
Regards,
Mark Hyde.
-
Aug 17, 2016 1:55 PM in response to Housmanaeby Tesserax,Depends if the TalkTalk provides printer sharing services for a printer connected to its USB port. If not, then plug it into the TC.
If the TalkTalk does, then it doesn't matter as it should be accessible to any device connected to either router.

Aug 17, 2016 2:35 PM in response to Tesseraxby Housmanae,Connected the printer using the USB cable back into the TalkTalk router, and then tried the Time Capsule, but still can't print wirelessly from either.
I've now cleared out the printer in System Preferences.
When I go Add a new printer I get a window coming coming up for Add. Should I choose the Default setting or IP?
In default I'm offered two printers. First is Name Brother HL-L2340D series, Location TC, Use Brother HL-L2340D series CUPS. The second printer is Name Brother HL-L2340D series [9cad97b36bd0], Location blank, Use Choose a Driver.
Regards,
Mark Hyde.

Aug 17, 2016 2:43 PM in response to Housmanaeby Tesserax,I would try: Brother HL-L2340D series, Location TC, Use Brother HL-L2340D series CUPS

Aug 17, 2016 2:51 PM in response to Tesseraxby Housmanae,I tried both printers on the Default window and neither could connect with the printer.
I also switched the USB cable from the TC to the TalkTalk router but still no connection.
One good thing, I now longer have two networks showing, so all that reconfiguring on the TC worked.
Can understand if you want to throw the towel in on this one. I'm willing to just hook up a USB-C adaptor to the MacBook Retina or have another go with Brother later this week.
Whatever is best for you.
Regards,
Mark Hyde.

Aug 17, 2016 3:03 PM in response to Housmanaeby Tesserax,★HelpfulI have no problem continuing to try to assist you, but you no longer have a Apple networking issue, but printing one instead.
I suggest that you "close" this post and start a new one in the Notebooks or Desktop Computers area of the Apple Support Communities to make sure folks with more experience with this printer can, hopefully, provide you with a resolution.
In the new post, you can link to this one for reference to what has been done so far. This will help those not having you go over any ground already covered.
