Always recommended to reset the AirPort back to default settings and then set it up again whenever you have a new modem or change Internet Service Providers.

Power off the new modem for at least 30 minutes. Longer is better.

Perform a Hard Reset on the AirPort Extreme, then power it off.

Insure that the Ethernet cable connects from the modem to the WAN "O" port on the AirPort Extreme

After the 30 minute modem power down, power up the modem and let it run for at least 5 minutes by itself.

Then, power up the AirPort and let it run a few minutes

Set up the AirPort Extreme again

Important Note......there are numerous reports of issues with the Arris SB modems and the AirPorts. Both are good products, but they don't seem to work together very well for some users.

I had to reset the Airport one more time, but things seem to be working now.  Thanks!

Nice work. Please keep a close eye on things. If you can go 3-4 days without an Internet connection drop, then things will probably be OK.

If you find in the next day or two that you need to restart the AirPort a few times to get a lost Internet connection back, then that is telling you that you will likely have to do this on a regular basis.

    Bob,

I have TWC internet as well and I have an Arris sb6190. Both Arris rep. and the TWC rep didn't know why the router didn't want to connect to the modem. We got the airport extreme (model1521) led to go green but no internet or wifi signal on my devices and computer. Once we installed the old TWC modem back it worked.

Im wondering if this hard reset on the router will help when installing the Arris 6190 modem? Reading your response is going to make me give this another go tomorrow.

should I reset the device, then unplug once more before connecting it to the new modem?

unplug airport> plug in and reset> power off> power and connect modem> power and connect router.

    What do you think?

    Matt

I would recommend that you carefully follow the steps that I provided previously.
