We really need more information in order to provide relevant suggestions. Are you trying to do something with the preview window in Mail?

I'm not sure what previous version you are referring to but the list of mailboxes has been down the left side for quite a while.

If you want the preview window to be below the list of messages (instead of to the right), enable the "Use classic layout" in Preferences -> Viewing.

    Duane-

I'm having this problem too, but this solution is not working for me. I can view my mailboxes and the text of messages, but my preview window won't come back. I tried rebuilding, dragging from the right side of the window, switching to classic layout, ... , and still can't get the mail preview window back. Other ideas?

In Mail preview pane hide/show I posted the following:

    1. Quit Mail
    2. Move ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail to the desktop.
    3. Restart Mail
    4. If Mail is working properly, delete the com.apple.mail that you had previously moved to the desktop.

    Try those steps.

    Duane-

Thank you very much. I had searched preferences, but I was not aware of the Containers folder. I appreciate your assistance.
