Q: My MacBook Pro Mid 2012 Model Heats up after upgrading ram

Hi Everyone out there, this is my first question to the community, lets see how it works.

My mid 2012 model MBP is heating up really hot since i have updated 2X8=16Gb Crucial ram.

Actually i am bit dissatisfied by this apple product during its 1st year only i had to visit apple service center 3 times for its very slow performance under normal operations also. when it was third time then they told me that HDD is fault & said that they have replaced it, since i have not seen any change in its performance. So i decided to upgrade RAM. but no performance increase observed.

If put my machine in sleep mode it drains battery.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

Upgrading RAM should not cause overheating unless you pranged a sensor connector while the back panel was open. I would first run Apple Hardware Test to check for damaged sensors or fans:

Using Apple Diagnostics - Apple Support

It is possible that you have unneeded third-party software causing problems. Anti-virus software, so-called cleaning/tune-up/ optimizing apps can cause slowness and overheating. So can some security software for online banking that too many financial institutions push, not knowing it does not work well on Macs.

If you are not sure what maybe lurking on your harddrive, you can safely give us a snapshot of your configuration. Please download and install this utility:

EtreCheck Find out what your Mac is running

It is safe and developed by one of our most respected members here. It can detect known troublemakers and display them without revealing any personal information about you or your computer.  Let it run and, when you see the results in Etrecheck's window, press the "Copy report to clipboard" command from its Share menu.. Then return here and paste that into a reply to your own question.

Thank you. First we need to deal with this:

    Configuration files:

        /etc/hosts - Count: 42

That can cause serious problems. For an explanation and fix, please see this excellent user tip written by teh author of EtreCheck:

    Fixing a hacked /etc/hosts file

That may clean up enough of EtreCheck's red flags to allow us to get to the root of the problem. Once yo uhave corrected that isse, please run Etrecheck again.

Oh, I suspect that µTorrent is not doing you any performance favors. It also exposes you to things that may have created the /etc/hosts issue.
