Whenever you change the modem, or modem/router to which the AirPort connects.....or.....change your Internet connection process, the AirPort must be reset back to default settings and then set up again to work with the new device.

Your post did not mention whether you have done this, but if not....performing a Hard Reset on the AirPort router would be the first thing to do, followed by setting up the AirPort again, just like you would do if the AirPort was new and connecting to your modem/router for the first time.

I unplugged the AirPort and also reset it using a paper clip. It still does not appear in the AirPort Utility...

How exactly did you reset it with a paperclip?  Are you sure that you performed a Hard Reset and not a Soft Reset?

You do know that the AirPort will not appear in AirPort Utility when it is reset back to factory default settings, correct? (The AirPort will only appear in AirPort Utility once it has been configured to work with the new Pace modem/router).

And, that you need to run the setup "wizard" to configure the AirPort, correct?

What operating system are you using on your Mac or PC?  Or, are you trying to use an iPhone or iPad to set up the AirPort?

Any luck?  Do you need step by step instructions?

If yes, we need to know what operating system you are using on your Mac or PC. Or, whether you want to use an iPhone or iPad for the setup.

I held down the reset button on the back of the AirPort using a paper clip. Not sure if it was hard or soft reset - how do I determine that? Also I did not know it wouldn't appear in Airport Utility. How do I configure it to run with Pace so it will appear - the instruction booklet with the AirPort Base station says to reset it and then find it using AirPort Utility. So I guess I need step by step instructions... I am using an iMac with the latest OS.

Unless you have an older version of the AirPort, the instructions in the Setup Guide say this:

"if you don't see the AirPort you want to configure (you won't), choose it from the WiFi status menu bar (at the top of the Mac's screen)

The instructions to perform a Hard Reset are also there in the Setup Guide.  To do this.....

Make sure that the AirPort has been powered on a few minutes

Hold in the reset button on the back of the AirPort for 7-8 seconds, then release

Allow a full minute for the AirPort to restart back to a slow, blinking amber light status

So, to start over and go step by step.....

Perform a Hard Reset on the AirPort Base Station

Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the four LAN <--> ports on the back of the Pace modem/router to the WAN "O" port on the AirPort Extreme

Click the WiFi menu at the top of the Mac's screen and click on AirPort Extreme

    New AirPort Base Extreme.png

When you click on AirPort Extreme, the setup "wizard" will start up and take a few seconds to analyze the network and then automatically suggest the correct setup for the AirPort.  Here is an example of what you will see, except that you will see your AirPort Extreme device pictured, not an AirPort Express:

    Uverse - Fios Setup.png

Network Name.......Type in a short simple name that you want to call the wireless network

Base Station Name......Type in a short simple name that you want to call the Airport Extreme

Password......Type in a password that will be used for the wireless network and base station

Verify......Type in the same password again to confirm

    Click Next

The setup wizard will set up everything for you automatically.  When you see the message of Setup Complete, click Done, and you are done. Should be a nice green light on the AirPort at this time.

Now you can connect to the wireless network that you named and enter the password to connect.

I only have an airport base station. No AirPort Extreme. I use the pace router for wifi. It used to be a 2wire router. The iMac connects to the the airport base station through the router wifi or it used to. I use the base station to stream music to a set of speakers in my office. Thanks for trying but don't think this will work for my set up

Do you mean that you have an AirPort Express base station?

Do you want the AirPort Express base station to connect to your Pace modem/router using a wired Ethernet cable connection....or....will it connect using a wireless connection?
