Q: Can't get USB-C to USB/HDMI to work
Just purchased a new Macbook 2016.
Got this adapter off of Amazon:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HEAJDHY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UT F8&psc=1
When connecting to the Mac, if I attempt to connect an external HD (formatted on a MAC, readable on a Macbook Air), the power light on the HD comes on, but after a few moments the MacBook gives the 'device was not ejected properly' message and its not available in finder. This also fails when connecting an external DVD drive the same issue occurs. IT DOES work with a USB thumb drive.
Using the HDMI port to connect to a monitor, the MacBook screen refreshes to a different resolution like its detecting the external monitor, but no signal is sent to that monitor.
We also tried a different adapter from the same maker, and experienced the exact same behavior.
It seems unlikely that both adapters would be defective. Could this be an issue with the USB-C port? Or with the 2016s only really work with the outrageously expensive Apple-made adapter?
MacBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)
