Q: iCloud Family invite not being received

My wife and I used to share an Apple ID, but this was a bit of a pain due to the odd duplication.  Having just got new iPhone 6S's each I noticed the family sharing so attempted to set this up.

 

I show up as "Organiser", I created an account for my daughter (who's 11) so she shows up, and then I invited my wife using her email address - which is registered as her new Apple ID.  It's been validated and she can log in to her own iCloud account.

 

So I sent the invite, and nothing happens essentially.  I resent it, and then resent it some more - in fact I hit the "max number of invitations sent" message.  This morning, have tried closing settings and rebooting both phones and resending again, but again, no invitation is received.

 

I double and triple checked the email address and that is definitely correct.  Under my iCloud family settings, it's still sitting there saying "Invitation sent".

 

I'm a bit perplexed, unless there's something going on with Apple servers and they are having a funny - but we've obviously had a bunch of other messages coming through from iCloud telling us that we've created things, and have new sign-ins etc

    This article may help:

     

    Set up Family Sharing - Apple Support

     

    See the section "Invite people to join your family" where its says "If your family member is with you, they can enter their Apple ID password on your device to accept the invitation" - try that.

     

    And in "Join a family group" where it says "If you can't accept the invitation, see if someone else joined a family with your Apple ID or is sharing purchased content from your Apple ID. Remember, you can only join one family at a time, and you can only switch to a different family group once per year".

     

    Finally, if you really resent the same invitation by selecting the Resend Invitation option, I'm not sure why you hit the max number.  I would contact Apple Support at the bottom of the above link.

    Usually when people do not see invitation they can find it in notifications area of the phone - when you swipe your screen from the top.
