Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having an issue with the Calendar application on the computer not moving days properly. I know how important it is to be able to check out p[ast and future appointments and events. What you might want to try is checking out this article first to quit and restart Calendar: OS X El Capitan: Quit apps
Then you can Try safe mode if your Mac doesn‘t finish starting up. Even though the title mentions not starting up properly, what safe mode does is allow your computer to restart and the system:
- Verifies your startup disk, and attempts to repair directory issues if needed
- Loads only required kernel extensions
- Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
- Disables user-installed fonts
- Deletes font caches, Kernel cache and other system cache files
Once the computer is in safe mode, go ahead and check for the Calendar to move properly.
if Safe mode doesn't make a difference, it might be a good idea to see if the issue is system-wide or user specific. Check out this article with steps How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac.
Cheers!
