Q: Any Way to Keep Dock Icons from Jumping?

I have sensory processing issues. Animation hurts. I know the jumping is supposed to indicate alerts, but the alerts have never been important, let alone important enough to justify the pain and potential migraines. Is there any way to stop the accursed jumping?

(and the accursed cursor-blinking in apps that use Apple's text tools, and the pain in apps that use Apple's sheets, etc.)

MacBook Air (11-inch Mid 2013), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

    Marja,

    You were given steps in 2014 to curtail cursor blink in selected applications. Does this now not work in El Capitan for you, or was it limited in application scope?

    The following may disable bouncing Dock icons in El Capitan, or it may not. It is a Terminal solution. Only copy/paste the blue text commands, and follow each line with a return.

    # disable bouncing Dock icons (except Launchpad) for this account

    $ defaults write com.apple.dock no-bouncing -bool True

    $ killall Dock

    # enable bouncing Dock icons for this account

    $ defaults write com.apple.dock no-bouncing -bool False

    $ killall Dock

    Thank you. That seems to solve the dock issue. The blink fix works in Textedit and Bean, but not in LibreOffice, Pages, Mail, etc.
