Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know not being able to use CarPlay with your iPhone is not what you expect. The good news is the following articles will be helpful in troubleshooting your issue with CarPlay and has these suggestions:If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, here’s what you can check. After each step, try using CarPlay again.
- Make sure that Siri is turned on.
- Restart your iPhone and your car. Depending on your car, you might see the CarPlay Home screen when you turn it on. If you don't, look for the CarPlay logo on your car’s display.
- If possible, connect your iPhone to a different USB port in your car.
- Try a different Lightning to USB cable. Make sure the cable is certified.
- Update to the latest version of iOS.
- Check your car’s manual for help. You might need to install firmware updates for your stereo.
Set up CarPlay to use with your iPhone

Aug 18, 2016 11:33 PM in response to jdo_appleby Dr. Universe,★HelpfulI have the exact same problem with my iPhone 6S running iOS 9.3.4 and a Chevy Volt 2016 only 6 months old. The Apple CarPlay icon showed up most of the time (but not always, which was very annoying) until I 'upgraded' to iOS 9.3.4. Now it never shows up, and there is no other way to access Apple CarPlay. I've tried the steps listed by jen4936 above, and many other variations on shutting everything down and starting from scratch. Nothing works. Please fix the bug, Apple!
