Q: Should I bother with dskchk?
ok, so I have the bsod for unmountable_boot_volume (windows 7), and following some advice i read online decided to use the chkdsk command to try and see if I could fix it before needing to reinstall windows. Figured this would be the easier route, though I wouldn't mind reinstalling as that would allow me to upgrade the Mac OS, as I have read many complications happen to the Windows partition upon upgrading. So, it has been nearly 24 hours, and I have gone through approx 45000 of 255000 files on stage 4. If it keeps at this rate, would I be better off just reinstalling windows? I have a full backup, so not worried about losing anything. Guess wondering if this is just more work than it's worth. Thx for advice!

Let the chkdsk complete. If there is an underlying disk issue, it is better to find it now. This problem can come back if there is an issue with the disk.
What is the year/model of your Mac?
